
The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has felicitated with Muslim faithful in Awgu LGA and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging citizens to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.

Tochukwu Chukwu, the council chairman described Eid-el-Kabir, popularly known as the Festival of Sacrifice, as a sacred period for deep reflection, compassion, and renewed commitment to humanity.
Hon. Okolo noted that the celebration, which commemorates the unwavering faith, obedience, and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), serves as a strong reminder of the values of generosity, selflessness, and unity required to build a peaceful and progressive society.
According to him, the festival is not only a moment of celebration for Muslim faithful but also an opportunity for individuals and communities to extend love, kindness, and support to the less privileged in society.
“Eid-el-Kabir is not only a time for joyous celebration but also an opportunity for reflection and gratitude. It encourages us to reach out to those in need, fostering a spirit of generosity and kindness within our communities,” he stated.
The Awgu council boss further urged residents of the local government area to uphold the teachings of the season by promoting peace, mutual respect, and harmonious coexistence irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliations.
Hon. Okolo also commended the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, for what he described as visionary, inclusive, and people-oriented leadership that has continued to position the state as a safe and attractive destination for investors and residents across diverse backgrounds.
He maintained that the remarkable strides recorded in critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and security under Governor Mbah’s administration are clear indicators of purposeful governance and unwavering commitment to the development of Enugu State.
Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to sustaining peace, unity, and religious harmony in Awgu Local Government Area, the chairman stressed that collective efforts remain essential in building a cohesive and prosperous society.
As Muslims mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Hon. Okolo encouraged them to celebrate with gratitude and continue offering prayers for lasting peace, progress, and prosperity in Awgu, Enugu State, and Nigeria as a whole.
