Umuada Awgu Honours Onwuegbu with Endorsement Plaque, Passes Vote of Confidence on Federal Lawmaker

The Umuada Awgu Progressive Association has conferred an endorsement plaque on the Member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, after unanimously passing a vote of confidence on his leadership and performance in office.

The women, drawn from communities across Awgu Local Government Area, said the honour was in recognition of what they described as the lawmaker’s responsive representation, accessibility to constituents and sustained commitment to the development of the federal constituency.

The endorsement was announced at a well-attended rally in Awgu, where members of the association commended Onwuegbu’s approach to representation, noting that his engagement with constituents and support for community-focused initiatives had strengthened public confidence in his leadership.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of an Endorsement Plaque and Certificate to the federal lawmaker in appreciation of what the association described as his dedication to effective representation and the advancement of the interests of Aninri, Awgu and Oji River Federal Constituency.

Although unable to attend the event, Onwuegbu was represented by three of his aides,Hon. Onyii Nwafor, Hon. Friday Okolie and Rosemary Chukwu, who received the plaque and certificate on his behalf to sustained applause from the gathering.

Addressing the rally, leaders of the association said their decision followed what they described as a careful assessment of the lawmaker’s stewardship since assuming office. They credited him with maintaining regular contact with constituents, facilitating development initiatives, championing policies aimed at improving livelihoods and remaining accessible to the people he represents.

According to them, effective representation extends beyond legislative responsibilities to include consistent engagement with constituents, advocacy for their interests and practical interventions that improve the quality of life across communities.

Receiving the honour on behalf of the lawmaker, Hon. Onyii Nwafor conveyed Onwuegbu’s appreciation to the association, describing the recognition as a significant endorsement of the confidence the people continue to repose in his leadership.

He said the plaque would serve as a reminder of the responsibility entrusted to the federal lawmaker and reinforce his commitment to delivering effective representation through impactful legislation, constituency projects and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people.

Also speaking, Hon. Friday Okolie thanked members of the association for what he described as their overwhelming demonstration of goodwill, assuring them that Onwuegbu would remain committed to working with stakeholders at all levels to sustain development across the federal constituency.

Beyond the recognition accorded to Onwuegbu, the association also endorsed the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah; the Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District, Senator Osita Ngwu; the Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Okolo; the member representing Awgu South State Constituency, Hon. Anthony Chukwudi Nwankwo; and the APC candidate for Awgu North State Constituency, Hon. Charles Ikechukwu Ezenta, citing their contributions to governance and grassroots development.

The rally ended with members of the association reaffirming their support for Onwuegbu and the other endorsed leaders, expressing optimism that sustained collaboration among public office holders would accelerate development across Awgu Local Government Area, Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency and Enugu State.
