…REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO ROAD SAFETY
The Enugu State Ministry of Transport has commenced a comprehensive review of field enforcement operations within Enugu metropolis, effective immediately, as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen road traffic management and improve service delivery to residents.
The review follows valuable feedback from members of the public, which the Ministry takes seriously, and is intended to ensure that enforcement activities remain effective, professional, and responsive to the needs of road users.
Traffic management duties will continue on the roads within the metropolis, and traffic regulations remain in force. Road users who violate these regulations will continue to be liable to the prescribed sanctions, as these measures exist to protect the safety of drivers, passengers, and other road users.
The Ministry will, during this period, intensify public awareness and education campaigns to help motorists, transport operators, and other road users better understand traffic regulations and their responsibilities. It will also continue to streamline its enforcement mechanisms for greater efficiency, professionalism, and improved service delivery.
The Ministry further wishes to state that field officers found wanting in the discharge of their duties are already following the process of the law. The Government will not relent in ensuring that anyone found culpable faces the full consequences of the law. At the same time, members of the public are reminded that no one is permitted to take the law into their own hands.
The Ministry appreciates members of the public for their continued engagement and encourages ongoing constructive feedback. All road users are urged to continue observing traffic regulations, exercising caution on the roads, and cooperating with traffic management personnel as the review progresses.
