Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has appointed former Awgu Local Government Area Mayor, Hon. Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo, as Special Adviser on Stakeholders Relations and Community Affairs, in a move that places renewed focus on strengthening government’s engagement with communities and critical stakeholders across the state.

Nwankwo, who expressed gratitude for the appointment, described the confidence reposed in him by Governor Mbah as both an honour and a fresh call to greater service to Ndi Enugu.

The appointment was conveyed in a letter dated September 21, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.

With his new responsibility, Nwankwo is expected to deploy his grassroots experience and knowledge of community affairs toward strengthening communication and collaboration between government and the people.

Reacting to the development, he commended Governor Mbah for recognising the importance of sustained and meaningful engagement with communities, traditional institutions, professional bodies, youths, women and other critical stakeholder groups.

He pledged to work closely with stakeholders across the state to deepen dialogue, strengthen relationships and ensure that the concerns, aspirations and contributions of the people receive meaningful attention.

Nwankwo also assured the governor of his loyalty and commitment to the administration’s development vision, promising to contribute to programmes and initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of Ndi Enugu.

Describing the appointment as more than an official position, the former Awgu mayor said it presents another opportunity to serve, build stronger connections between government and the people, and contribute to the development of Enugu State.

He expressed appreciation to God, Governor Mbah and Ndi Enugu for the opportunity, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in him through diligent, inclusive and people-centred service.
