Seven New Appointments, One Message: Okolo Salutes Mbah for Remembering Awgu

There are moments in public life when an appointment is more than a name on a government list. It becomes a statement about trust, responsibility and the place of a people in the affairs of government.

For Awgu Local Government Area, Monday’s announcement by the Enugu State Government carried precisely that weight.

The Executive Chairman of Awgu LGA, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for appointing seven Awgu indigenes into key positions in the state government.

The appointments, which took immediate effect, span the ranks of Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants.

The new appointees are Dr. Augustine Okoli, Special Adviser on Policy Affairs and Analysis; Hon. Pedro Nwankwo, Special Adviser on Stakeholders Relations and Community Affairs; Barr. Okey Ude, Senior Special Assistant on Inter-Party and Mobilisation; Hon. Chinedu Chukwunwike, Senior Special Assistant on Party Monitoring; Hon. Sunday Ignatius Okafor, Special Assistant on Political and Grassroots Mobilisation; Hon. Solomon Egbo, Special Assistant on Contract and Mobilisation; and Hon. Humphrey Madu, Special Assistant on Political Liaison.

In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, Okolo expressed appreciation to Governor Mbah for what he described as a recognition of the capacity and contributions of Awgu indigenes to the development of Enugu State.

He urged the appointees to see their new responsibilities not as privileges, but as opportunities to serve, charging them to justify the confidence reposed in them through diligence, humility, loyalty and professionalism.

Okolo also called on the new appointees to remain worthy ambassadors of Awgu, insisting that their conduct in office would reflect not only on them individually but also on the community they represent.

The council chairman commended the Mbah administration for its infrastructure and development initiatives across the state, particularly in roads, education and healthcare.

The Enugu State Government has reported more than 10,000 milestones under the Mbah administration, including over 1,521 kilometres of constructed and reconstructed roads, more than 7,000 classrooms and 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, among other projects and reforms.

For the seven newly appointed Awgu indigenes, however, the announcement is only the beginning.

An appointment may open the door. It does not walk the journey.

Okolo therefore charged them to bring competence, character and commitment to their respective assignments, while placing the interests of Enugu State and the welfare of its people above personal considerations.

He congratulated the appointees and assured them of his goodwill and support as they assume their new responsibilities.

For Awgu, seven names have entered the machinery of government.
