Nkanu East Chairmanship Poll: Mike Ogbuekwe Declared Winner as APC Secures Victory

Ogbuekwe was formally declared at the Nkanu East Local Government Area Headquarters by the representative of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), bringing the electoral contest to an official close.

The declaration marked the culmination of an extensive campaign by Ogbuekwe, who traversed communities across Nkanu East in the build-up to the election, engaging political stakeholders, community leaders, youths and residents through a series of meetings, consultations and interactions.

Reflecting on the outcome, Ogbuekwe described hearing his name declared by the ENSIEC representative as a “deeply emotional and unforgettable moment,” coming after what he described as a journey of campaigns, meetings, travels, challenges, prayers and sustained support from the people.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his leadership, support and the opportunity to participate in the political process, while also acknowledging God and the people of Nkanu East for the confidence reposed in him.

“I do not take this responsibility for granted,” Ogbuekwe said in his post-election message.

That acknowledgement now assumes greater significance as the campaign gives way to governance.

The election may have settled the question of who will occupy the chairmanship seat, but the result also places before the incoming administration the expectations of the electorate across the local government.

For Ogbuekwe, therefore, the declaration represents not simply the conclusion of a political contest, but the beginning of a new phase in which campaign commitments will be measured against the realities of public administration and grassroots development.

His emergence also brings to an end weeks of intense political activity across Nkanu East, where the APC campaign had maintained a visible presence in the communities ahead of the poll.

With the result formally announced, attention will now shift from the ballot box to the responsibilities of office.

The campaign is over. The mandate has been declared.

For Mike Ogbuekwe and the people of Nkanu East, the next chapter is service.
