Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The Enugu State Government, under the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has intensified efforts to complete abandoned public infrastructure projects, with the Enugu State Secretariat Complex expected to be fully completed within the next three months.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ben Osy Okoh, FNSE, F.ASCE, disclosed this during an inspection of the ongoing construction and upgrading works at the Secretariat Complex, where he assessed the progress of work and the level of implementation across the various sections of the project.
Engr. Okoh explained that Wings A and B of the complex were completed and commissioned in 2015, while Wings C and D had remained abandoned for years. He said the ongoing intervention reflects Governor Mbah’s determination to revive abandoned government projects, complete critical infrastructure and ensure that public investments serve their intended purposes.
According to the Commissioner, the project involves the completion of Secretariat Blocks C1, C2, C3, C4, C5 and D2, as well as the remodelling and upgrading of existing facilities to meet contemporary standards of functionality, comfort and efficiency.
He further disclosed that Block D1 had been allocated to the South East Development Commission (SEDC) and was undergoing upgrading to provide suitable office accommodation for the Commission.
The Works Commissioner expressed confidence that the project would be delivered within the stipulated three-month timeframe, noting that its completion would provide modern, functional and conducive working spaces for civil servants, enhance administrative efficiency and improve the overall working environment within the state public service.
He emphasised that the upgraded Secretariat Complex would strengthen institutional operations and facilitate effective service delivery by equipping public officials with the necessary infrastructure to discharge their responsibilities more efficiently.
Engr. Okoh noted that the project forms part of the broader infrastructure renewal agenda of the Mbah administration, which is focused on completing abandoned projects, rehabilitating public facilities and ensuring that government infrastructure is put to productive and sustainable use.
He reaffirmed the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure’s commitment to maintaining quality, professionalism and adherence to required standards in the execution of public projects, stressing that the ongoing transformation aligns with the state government’s vision of improved governance, economic growth and sustainable development.
