Ogbuekwe gave the assurance when he received the corps members at the council headquarters in Amagunze, where they engaged him on their experiences and challenges since the commencement of their national service.

During the interaction, the corps members commended the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for what they described as the visible developmental strides across the state. They also expressed satisfaction with their experiences at the NYSC orientation camp and appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the national service programme.

The corps members, however, highlighted some of the challenges confronting them in the course of their service in Nkanu East and Enugu State at large, particularly issues relating to their welfare and the conditions necessary for effective service delivery.

The council chairman, who listened attentively to their concerns, assured them that the issues raised would receive the necessary attention. He emphasised the importance of engaging young people, understanding their concerns and taking practical steps to address challenges that could affect their welfare, productivity and overall experience during their service year.
Ogbuekwe further urged the corps members to make the most of the opportunities offered by the NYSC programme, describing national service as a significant phase in their personal development and preparation for future responsibilities.
He encouraged them to remain courageous, disciplined and committed to their duties, noting that the experiences and lessons acquired during the programme would contribute to building their character, strengthening their capacity and preparing them for greater achievements in life.
The chairman also charged them to identify with their host communities and contribute meaningfully to their development through their knowledge, skills and professional expertise. He stressed that national service should be viewed not merely as an obligation but as an opportunity to foster unity, promote cultural understanding and make lasting contributions to society.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the welfare of corps members, Ogbuekwe assured them of a supportive and conducive environment throughout their stay in Nkanu East, adding that their legitimate concerns would remain a priority.
The engagement highlights the importance of sustained collaboration between local government authorities and the NYSC in promoting youth development, community integration and an enabling environment for national service.
It also underscores the responsibility of grassroots leadership to ensure that corps members are welcomed, supported and encouraged to contribute to the social and developmental advancement of their host communities.
The Ogbuekwe-led administration has continued to emphasise youth engagement, empowerment and grassroots development as integral components of its governance agenda.
