A controversy has erupted in Nrobo Community, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, following the alleged demolition of an Indigene’s home by the community’s acting President-General, Dangold Ugwu.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!According to Mr. Williams Ugwu, the affected homeowner, his residence was demolished under the false pretext that it obstructed access to Dangold Ugwu’s property. However, Mr. Williams Ugwu claims that his family had already provided a 22-foot-wide road to Dangold Ugwu’s house, as evidenced by an attached video.
The dispute began when Dangold Ugwu allegedly scattered 11 truckloads of sand meant for Mr. Williams Ugwu’s building project. Despite a ruling by the Umunna (kindred elders) ordering Dangold Ugwu to restore the sand, he allegedly defied the directive and proceeded to demolish Mr. Williams Ugwu’s house.
Dangold Ugwu allegedly boasted about bribing the Enugu State Town Planning Authority to secure a fraudulent permit to carry out the demolition. Mr. Williams Ugwu has appealed to Governor Mbah and the Enugu State Government to intervene in the matter, seeking justice for the destruction of his property.
The Enugu State Government and Uzo-Uwani LGA authorities have been urged to investigate the allegations and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. The community is calling for a peaceful resolution to the dispute and an end to any further violence or intimidation.
