…States Officers were Professionally Discharging Their Duties
The Enugu State Ministry of Transport has dismissed claims from unverified reporters that officers from its Vehicle Inspection Unit caused the death of a Tricycle (Keke) rider. She states that this claim is false.

In a circulating video showing a tricycle rider allegedly lying lifeless after an incident involving a VIO marshal, who was taking the rider to the office following a traffic offense, it was revealed that the rider was not injured but allegedly pretended to be dead to attract sympathy.

Confirming the true story, the Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, Engr. Val Chime, while speaking with newsmen in his office on Friday, stated that it was actually his staff who sustained several bruises and a fracture and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is receiving treatment at the time of this report.

In his statement, the Chief VIO explained that upon hearing the report, he rushed to the scene, where it was observed that the tricycle rider, an unidentified Hausa man, immediately stood up and fled with his tricycle, from which the windscreen had fallen as a result of the incident, after learning that the VIO marshal had been taken to the hospital.

The Enugu State Government advises the public to disregard the fake report circulating on social media regarding the incident involving the officer of the State Vehicle Inspection Office and the tricycle rider.

Motorists are urged to remain law-abiding, respectful, and cooperative with all law enforcement agents in the state and beyond.
