
The Enugu State Ministry of Culture and Tourism strongly condemns the tragic and untimely death of Mr. Okezie Mbah, widely known as “Igbo-jah”, allegedly killed by Nigerian police officers under deeply disturbing circumstances.

His death is not only a devastating loss to his family and friends but also a painful blow to the cultural and tourism sector of Enugu State.
The Ministry calls upon the Nigerian Police Force to conduct an immediate and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragedy. Those found responsible must be held accountable to ensure justice is served, as this act of violence has shaken the confidence of the people in the institutions meant to protect and serve them.

The Ministry stands in solidarity with the family of Mr. Okezie Mbah during this difficult time and extends its deepest condolences to all who knew and cherished him. His legacy as a guardian of Igbo culture and tradition will not be forgotten.
Furthermore, the Ministry urges community members to remain calm as they pursue justice and appeals to the authorities for swift and fair action. Enugu State remains committed to upholding the safety, dignity, and cultural heritage of every citizen. This incident should serve as a catalyst for reform, ensuring accountability, transparency, and meaningful change.
