
Hon. Professor Paul Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency, has strongly condemned the alleged murder of Okezie Chikezie Mba, a renowned traditional Ogene musician known as “Igbo-Jah,” by a Police Inspector attached to the Enugu State Police Command’s Anti-Cult unit.

He praised the late musician as a master of eulogistic melodies who promoted peace and Igbo culture in Enugu State and the southeast.
Professor Nnamchi, Chairman of the House Committee on Nigeria-Republic of Island Parliamentary Friendship Association and Deputy Chairman of the Southeast Development Commission, extended condolences to the victim’s family, constituents, and Enugu State. “I condole with the immediate family, the people of Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency, and Enugu State over the loss of Mr. Mba,” he said.
Enugu State Governor, Barrister Peter Mba, has offered scholarships to the late musician’s children, a gesture praised by Professor Nnamchi. “This kind gesture will bring great relief to the family,” he noted.
To prevent extrajudicial killings, Professor Nnamchi urged the police to provide regular training and retraining on firearm use. “The police must prioritize the protection of innocent citizens,” he stressed.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for accountability and justice for the victim’s family.
