
The House of Representatives Committee on Ecological Fund recently visited Lagos State to assess the impacts of floods and erosions in the area. The committee, led by Hon. Professor Paul Sunday Nnamchi, aimed to explore how the state can benefit from ecological funds to mitigate these issues.

The state received N1.81 billion from the ecological fund, averaging N150.83 million per month, to address environmental challenges such as erosion and flooding.
The visit is part of the committee’s tour of states prone to erosion and flood challenges. The ecological fund, established in 1981, is drawn from the Federation Account at a rate of two percent, with the primary objective of assisting all tiers of government in tackling ecological problems.
