Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The Secretary to Enugu State government Prof Chidiebere Onyia on Wednesday 20th, November 2024, led a team to Nkanu East LGA on a sensitization tour. Prof. Onyia said collaboration and partnership with stakeholders of Nkanu East such as the traditional rulers, Town Union presidents, women leaders, youths among others will contribute greatly to the successful completion of the projects in various wards in Nkanu East.
He said the move to embark on the project is geared towards effective learning and boosting the educational potentials of the state. He assured ndị Nkanu East that his excellency, Governor Mbah is committed to strengthening all institutions including supporting and collaborating with stakeholders.


Prof. Onyia highlighted the initiative aims to enhance educational standards in the state, with an investment of approximately 1 billion naira per ward for modernized facilities equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including AI and robotics. He urged community members to take ownership of the project to prevent vandalism and ensure its sustainability.
” The smart schools when completed in all the wards, will enable our children compete with other children globally and boast the education sector of Enugu State, he said”.


This move aligns with Governor Peter Mbah’s vision for local government autonomy and community-driven development. By empowering local leaders, the Enugu State Government aims to create a sense of responsibility and accountability among community members. Therefore, the governor task the councilors to be reporting both time stamped pictures and geotagged video updates of the on going projects at least 3 times in a week. While the PGs and Igwes should take ownership both from preconstruction and post construction to retain sustainability of the projects.


Mothers who are also direct benefitial and every citizen of each community should also help in monitoring as collective effort is needed to ensure that the construction materials are not rooted and vandalized.
The Green Smart School project is a significant investment in Enugu State,as It’s approximately 1 billion Naira per ward, multiply by 260 wards in the state. It’s first of it’s kind in the region that a governor is investing 15billion in each Local government of the 17 LGAS in Enugu State, and should be taken very serious by everyone in the government.


Nkanu East Local Government chairman, Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh while responding, applauded the commitment and efforts of Governor Peter Mbah towards the overall development of the state and pledged the commitment and collaboration of ndị Nkanu East to bring about sustainable development across the length and breadth of the communities in the LGA.


He also assured that he will not tolerate anyone found undermining the government instructions, or attempts to impede government’s developmental initiatives within his domain.
In their separate speeches, Stakeholders expressed gratitude for the state’s investment, acknowledging the governor’s efforts to address their longstanding challenges. They pledged their commitment to ensuring the successful delivery and maintenance of the Green Smart Schools project and other ongoing developments in the area. They thanked the secretary to the State Government Prof Chidiebere Onyia for coming to Nkanu East on the sensitization, They further appreciated the Governor of Enugu State His Excellency Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, their son and brother for wiping their tears of many years. They also highlighted other state government projects going on in the local government beyond the green smart school. He assured the SSG that they will collectively ensure maximum sustainability and quality delivery of all the projects in Nkanu East.


The event was attended by Hon Okey Mbah member representing Nkanu East at the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon Barr Chima Okorie, Commissioner for Land, Hon Ekene Nnamani, Executive Chairman Board of Internal Generated Revenue, Hon Paul Nnajiofor, SPA on legislative matters , Hon Barr Joseph Ejeh, SA Research and documentation to the Governor, Hon Felix Okoye, Secretary Nkanu East LGA, Hon Ikechukwu Ani, leader Nkanu East legislative Council, Hon Cornelius Edeh, Nkanu East PDP chairman and women leader Hon Mrs Chinwe Mbah led party faithfuls, HRH Igwe H. Edeani, Chairman Nkanu East council of traditional Rulers, Hon chief Boniface Edeh, coordinator, Forum of Town Union presidents in Nkanu East, among other dignitaries.
