
Awgu Local Government Council ably headed by Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has received with open arms, the Batch C National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members newly deployed to the area in a grand ceremony.

Ably representing the Council Chairman at the swearing-in which held at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Awgu, Dr. Stanley Uchenna Ezediuto, PhD, Vice Chairman; Awgu LGA, flanked the Enugu State Governor’s Representative, Barr. Llyod Ike Ekweremmadu; the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, at the colourful ceremony, well attended by important dignitaries from across the state.

In his speech, His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, welcomed the corps members to Enugu State, highlighting their vital roles in promoting national unity, community development, and sustainable growth. He urged them to embrace their postings with enthusiasm and contribute meaningfully to their host communities.


Dr. Ezediuto in his remarks, assured the newly sworn-in corps members of the Awgu Local Government unwavering commitments to their welfare, security, and integration into the community. He emphasized the welcoming spirit of the people of Awgu and further encouraged them to actively engage in developmental projects that will leave a lasting legacy even after their passing out.


“We are delighted to welcome you to Awgu LGA, and we are committed to ensuring that your stay with us is memorable and impactful,” Dr. Ezediuto said. “We encourage you to explore our rich cultural heritage, engage with our people, and contribute your quota to the development of our community.”


The ceremony served as a reminder of the invaluable contributions of the NYSC scheme, in fostering peace, unity, and development across Nigeria. As a local government, Awgu LGA remains dedicated to creating an enabling environment for these young patriots to thrive and make meaningful impacts.


The swearing-in ceremony was also attended by other dignitaries, including Hon. Anthony Nwankwo; Member representing Awgu South Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly. The event was graced by traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders.


As the Batch C corps members begin their service year in Awgu LGA, the local government assures them of its support and cooperation in addition to its rich cultural heritage, warm hospitality, and commitment to development, Awgu LGA is poised to providing a memorable and impactful experience for these corps members and others in future.
