The event, which took place at the Press Centre, Enugu, featured a powerful prayer session led by Pastor Emma Madu of Kingdom Ways Ministry, Abakpa. Pastor Madu emphasized the importance of self-examination and integrity, charging journalists to reflect on their values and faith.
“We must examine ourselves to ensure that our ways please God,” Pastor Madu urged. “We must ask ourselves: ‘How and where will the life I’m living take me? What lessons have I learned from my mistakes? Does my life reflect my values and faith? Do I have integrity?'”

The Chairman of the Council, Comrade Sam Udekwe, commended Pastor Madu for his prayers and expressed gratitude for the reactivation of faith among members.
“I am grateful for this spiritual upliftment,” Comrade Udekwe said. “It’s a great way to start our Press Week, and I believe it will have a positive impact on our activities throughout the week.”

The prayer session focused on various themes, including prayers against deaths amongst members, promotion and breakthroughs, and prayers for the tools of trade for journalists.
The Press Week will continue on December 2 with a lecture by Professor Osita Ogbu, former Economic Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The lecture, titled “Journalism In A Developing Economy: The Dignity of Professional Practice,” promises to be an insightful and thought-provoking discussion on the role of journalism in Nigeria’s economic development.

The grand finale of the Press Week will take place on December 6, to feature awards, recognition, and celebration of journalistic excellence in Enugu State.
