His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, introduced a forward-thinking policy, making digital literacy certification mandatory for yearly promotions within the Enugu State Civil Service. This bold step ensures the workforce remains equipped to meet modern governance demands.

The intensive two-week training covered essential tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other digital platforms. Participants gained practical knowledge to boost workplace productivity and drive public sector innovation. Globally, fewer than 5% of civil servants possess advanced digital skills, compared to an industry benchmark of 8-12%, creating a significant efficiency gap in governance.

Arinze Chilo-Offiah, Special Adviser on MSMEs and Digital Economy, emphasized that this training is a movement towards exceptional governance. “This training is more than a program; it is a movement toward equipping our civil servants with the tools to deliver exceptional governance,” he said.

The Enugu State Government has pledged continued investment in digital literacy programs, ensuring its workforce remains equipped for modern governance and economic growth.
