The visit, which took place Tuesday, 18th February, 2025, was led by Comrade Ngozi Ngene, Chairperson of NAWOJ Enugu State.
Ngene emphasized the importance of early registration for ante-natal care and hospital delivery, stressing that this would ensure safe delivery and early identification of potential risks and complications.

“Pregnant women should register for ante-natal care early and deliver at hospitals with good medical facilities,” Ngene said. “This will ensure safe delivery and early identification of potential risks and complications.”

Ngene also encouraged pregnant mothers to engage in productive activities, such as petty businesses, to achieve financial independence, personal growth, and contribute to family income.

In addition, Adaobi Anah, a NAWOJ member, highlighted the importance of personal hygiene for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, emphasizing the risks of infections before and after delivery.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Focal Person at Ozalla Health Center, Amaka Okeke, and the Assistant Officer In Charge (OIC) at Agbani Health Center, Nonyelum Anih, expressed gratitude for NAWOJ’s visit and assured their readiness to support the pregnant women throughout their journey.
“We appreciate NAWOJ’s effort in empowering our pregnant women,” Okeke said. “We are committed to providing them with the necessary support and care throughout their pregnancy journey.”
As a token of appreciation, NAWOJ donated delivery mats and laundry soap to the pregnant women at both health centers. This initiative aligns with NAWOJ’s commitment to promoting maternal health and reducing maternal mortality in Enugu State.
