The landmark event, hosted in collaboration between the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria and the Enugu State Government, marked a significant milestone in the city’s journey to become a hub for creative innovation and enterprise.

According to Mr. Fegho John Umunubo, Special Assistant to the President on Digital & Creative Economy, “The creative economy is a goldmine waiting to be fully harnessed. Fashion is not just about design; it’s an economic powerhouse that, with the right support, can drive employment, wealth creation, and global recognition for Nigerian talent.”



Discussions at the roundtable centered around critical themes, including Access to Funding, Value Chain Integration, and Positioning Enugu Fashion Brands on the Global Stage. Industry experts, such as Mrs. Olusola Babatunde, Ms. Ngozi Valerie Okochi, and Mr. Oluwaseun Adedayo, shared practical strategies for scaling sustainable fashion businesses while preserving cultural heritage.


The event also announced a structured training program for 5,000 fashion entrepreneurs at the recently commissioned Enugu Fashion & Garment Hub. The program aims to equip entrepreneurs with globally competitive skills and position Enugu as a center for excellence in fashion enterprise.


Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, leading the Enugu SME Agency, emphasized the state government’s commitment to supporting the fashion industry. “This is not just about training; this is about building a fashion ecosystem that thrives beyond our borders. Enugu is ready to take its place as a creative and business powerhouse, and we are committed to making it happen.”


The Enugu Fashion Roundtable marked a new dawn for the creative economy in Enugu, with a renewed sense of purpose and a belief that the city is on the cusp of a fashion revolution. As Governor Peter Mbah’s administration continues to prioritize economic transformation and development, Enugu’s fashion industry is poised for unprecedented growth and success.
