During the tour, the team visited various departments, including the factory, effluent discharge, borehole, hostels, remediation action for erosion, and landfill. However, they were unable to visit the clinic section but were advised to take photos and send them to the Honorable Commissioner for further action.

The inspection revealed some concerning issues, including poor worker safety, inadequate hostel facilities, environmental concerns, and waste management issues. Workers in the factory were not properly equipped with personal protective equipment, and the hostel accommodations had poor ventilation. The team also observed erosion near the factory and advised the company to take remediation actions.

The company’s CEO, Mr. Lee, appreciated the state government’s support and pledged to address the pointed-out issues.

Despite these challenges, Prof. Onyia assured the company that the government is committed to supporting their progress and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The government’s goal is to position Enugu State as a premier destination for business, prioritizing human and environmental well-being.
