Prof Nnamchi Visits Muslim Constituents, Preaches Peaceful Coexistence

The member representing Enugu East/ Isi Uzo Federal Constituency of Enugu State in the House of Representatives, Hon Professor Paul Sunday Nnamchi has emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence among his constants irrespective of religious learnings.

Professor Nnamchi made the appeal at the weekend in Enugu during an unscheduled Sallah visits to various Housa communities and mosques within his constituency.

He noted that, “we were all created by one God and it was not by accident that we find ourselves in different religions and in one country together” . He said admonishing the moslem constituents to pray for the country’s peace and economic growth.

The lawmaker who was accompanied by his aides, party leaders and supporters further stressed that the challenges of insecurity and insurgence in the country required prayers for God’s intervention urging the clerics to intensify their prayers for the good of Nigeria.

Professor Nnamchi who described the feast of Eid al-Fitr as significant in Islam noted that, “it is a period of self control, gratitude and charity after a month-long fasting and prayers”

He made donations of some food items, like bags of rice, clothes, wrappers, mats,and cash gift to various mosques in the constituency which included Abakpa Central Mosque, University of Allied Health Sciences, Trans-Ekwulu, Nigeria Airforce and 82 Division of the Nigeria Army among others.

At the Abakpa Central Mosque, he was welcomed by the Chief Imam, Alhaji Bilel, his secretary, Aminu Sani Adam and a host of other faithfuls, same was in 82 Division, Nigerian Army Mosque, where the chief Imam, Eleje. Oko. Husein, Nuhu Bawa, the CSO, the 82 Division barracks co ordinator and a host of other members received him with a lot of enthusiasm.

The University of Allied Health Sciences, the Chief Imam, Abdulrasheed Momo Bello who presented a plaque to him stressed that Professor Nnamchi’s coming around to break fast with Muslim community in the university was symbolic and exciting to all of them.

Similarly the Chief Imam of the Nigeria Airforce Mosque, Enugu, Flt Lt Musa expressed the sincere gratitude of his congregants to the lawmaker for donation of items and money to them.

“We are grateful for your support, kindness, and dedication to the wellbeing of all citizens, regardless of their faith. Your presence today not only strengthened our bond but also reminded us of the importance of togetherness, compassion, and mutual respect” he further stressed.
