PDP Sets Date for NEC Meeting, National Convention Amidst Party Reforms

In a significant move to reposition itself ahead of the next general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has announced the scheduling of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting for May 27, 2025.

This decision was reached at the forum’s meeting held on Monday in Ibadan, Oyo State, and was communicated through a communique signed by the Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Bala Mohammed.

According to the communique, the NEC meeting will be a crucial step in the party’s efforts to address its internal issues and re-strategize for future electoral contests.

In addition to the NEC meeting, the PDP Governors Forum has also announced that the party’s national convention will hold from August 28 to 30, 2025, in Kano State. This convention is expected to be a pivotal moment in the party’s history, as it will provide an opportunity for members to come together and shape the party’s future direction.

As part of the preparations for the convention, the forum has established a zoning committee to address all issues related to the zoning of party offices. The committee will be chaired by Governor Douye Diri, with Governor Dauda Lawal serving as vice chairman and Governor Caleb Mutfwang as secretary.

Furthermore, the forum has also constituted a national convention committee, which will be responsible for organizing the August convention. This committee will be chaired by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, with Governor Ademola Adeleke as vice chairman and Governor Peter Mbah as secretary.
