In a shocking development, Dr. Ben Nwoye, the former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, has resigned from the ruling party. According to the letter, Dr. Nwoye stated that his resignation is as a result of the disintegration of the leadership of the party in Enugu State. “The broom which was painstakingly tied together in 2013, when party members were called unprintable names, has loosened and permanently scattered,” he lamented.

A founding member and face of the party in Enugu State, Dr. Nwoye expressed deep disappointment over what he described as the collapse of internal cohesion and respect for party hierarchy. “I can no longer continue to be part of a structure where loyalty is punished and mediocrity is celebrated,” he said.

He further noted that the ideals that once held the party together have been sacrificed on the altar of personal interests and factional dominance. “The energy, time, and sacrifice we invested to build a formidable political platform have been eroded by unending power tussles and deliberate exclusion,” Dr. Nwoye added.

The former APC chairman revealed that his decision to step away was not taken lightly but became inevitable after numerous failed attempts to broker peace and foster unity within the ranks. He lamented that the party has lost its appeal among the people due to what he termed as “persistent internal strife and lack of direction.”

While expressing gratitude to genuine party faithful who worked tirelessly over the years, Dr. Nwoye hinted that his journey in politics is far from over. “This is only a new chapter. I remain available to support any political structure that aligns with the collective interest of the people, where progress and fairness are not just preached but practiced,” he concluded.

Dr. Nwoye’s resignation is a significant blow to the APC in Enugu State, and his comments have sparked a lot of debate among political analysts and stakeholders in the state.
