Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!In a grand display of political solidarity and community engagement, the First Lady of Enugu State, Her Excellency Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, led a high-powered delegation to the Awgu Local Government Headquarters as part of her familiarization tour of the Enugu West Senatorial District.







The visit, marked by cultural vibrancy, heartfelt speeches, and massive grassroots turnout, reaffirmed the Mbah administration’s unwavering commitment to inclusive governance, women empowerment, and sustainable community development across the five local government areas of the district—Aninri, Awgu, Oji River, Ezeagu, and Udi.






The event commenced with an opening prayer led by Hon. Ego Ajah, Member III Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), setting a solemn tone for the day’s engagements.



The First Lady’s tour attracted an impressive array of dignitaries, including Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West in the National Assembly; Dr. Sir Martin Chukwunweike, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State; Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu, Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly; Barr. Victor Udeh, Chief of Staff to the Enugu State Government; and Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, Executive Chairman of Awgu LGA. Also present were other LGA chairmen from the district, members of the State House of Assembly, wives of local government chairmen, commissioners, PDP chieftains, and traditional rulers.




In his welcome address, delivered on behalf of the five local government chairmen, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo expressed heartfelt appreciation to the First Lady and her husband, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for their visionary and people-centered leadership. He described the opportunity to serve under the current administration as a privilege and pledged continued loyalty and support as the Governor prepares for re-election in 2027.




“We are grateful for the opportunity to serve under your visionary leadership,” Okolo remarked, underscoring the dedication of local government leaders to the progressive agenda of the Mbah-led administration.



Mrs. Joy Ogechukwu Ndu, wife of the Ezeagu LGA Chairman, along with her counterparts from the other four LGAs in the senatorial zone, extended a warm welcome to the First Lady. They pledged their firm support for the administration and commended the First Lady’s role in championing causes that impact families, women, and children.
Voices of support also came from prominent female leaders across the district. Chief Barr. Ukamaka Alita, PDP Zonal Woman Leader for Enugu West; Hon. Mrs. Zara Obodoeze, Commissioner for Gender, Children and Social Development; Hon. Ngozi Enih, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; Barr. Ugochi Mmadueke, Deputy Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly; and Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh all addressed the gathering. In their individual remarks, they reiterated the crucial role women play in the governance and development process and affirmed their continued support for the Mbah administration.



Representing government parastatals in the senatorial district, Hon. Uche Anya, Chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, echoed the collective commitment of state appointees from the zone to the administration’s vision, praising the collaborative atmosphere that has defined Governor Mbah’s tenure.

State PDP Chairman, Dr. Sir Martin Chukwunweike, emphasized the party’s endorsement of Governor Mbah’s second-term ambition, highlighting his dedication to public welfare and transformational governance.


A symbolic highlight of the event was the presentation of various gifts to the First Lady from women’s groups and local government leaders. Notably, each of the five local government chairmen—as well as the PDP State Chairman—presented a life cow to Mrs. Mbah in a show of gratitude and celebration.





Visibly moved by the unprecedented show of unity and support, the First Lady expressed her profound appreciation to the people of Enugu West. She praised the zone for its solidarity and commitment to peace and development, assuring the people of her dedication to service.

“My role as First Lady is one of service,” she stated. “I remain committed to championing causes that uplift families and improve the well-being of women, children, and communities across our state.”
Speaking to journalists, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo described the visit as a demonstration of the genuine love the First Lady and Governor Peter Mbah have for the people of Enugu State. He described the familiarization tour as a strategic approach to people-centered leadership and inclusive governance.

The day culminated in colorful cultural performances, featuring traditional music and dances that celebrated the rich heritage of Enugu West, leaving an atmosphere of joy, unity, and renewed hope among the people.
