
In a bid to enhance the quality of education in Enugu State, the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) has taken a significant step by supplying 3,826 educational materials to the State Science Technical and Vocational School Management Board (STVSMB) for distribution to 39 Science Technical Schools/Colleges in the state.

The educational materials, procured by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and donated to Enugu State, cover three core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, and Basic Technology for Junior Secondary Schools. The materials are expected to boost the academic performance of students in these schools and enhance their overall learning experience.


A breakdown of the textbooks supplied shows that:
- Agbani Educational Zone received 576 books
- Awgu received 729 books
- Enugu zone received 549 textbooks
- Nsukka zone received 783 books
- Obollo received 513 books
- Udi zone received 675 textbooks

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the ENSUBEB Headquarters in Enugu, the Executive Chairman of ENSUBEB, Assoc. Professor Hyginus Banko Okibe, emphasized the Board’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders to elevate basic education in the state. He thanked UBEC for their support and requested continued collaboration, stating that the ceremony marked the second time such educational/instructional materials donated by UBEC to Enugu State were being distributed to public schools in the state.

Prof. Okibe also announced plans by the state government to procure additional educational materials to complement UBEC’s efforts, highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting basic education. “The Board will continue to partner with other stakeholders in Basic Education to take education to enviable heights,” he said.


Receiving the textbooks on behalf of the Executive Chairman of STVSMB, Dr. Mrs. Amaka Ngene, the Director of Education Services of the Board, Mary Chinenye Ani, thanked the state government, ENSUBEB, and UBEC for the educational materials supplied. She noted that the textbooks were a practical demonstration of the state government’s attention to science, technical, and vocational education in the state and a boost in the best interest of the students.

Mrs. Ani promised that the Board would ensure that the textbooks were distributed to science, technical, and vocational schools and colleges in all six educational zones in the state, highlighting the state government’s commitment to promoting quality education. “We will ensure that the textbooks are distributed to all the schools, and we appreciate the efforts of ENSUBEB and UBEC in promoting education in our state,” she said.

The supply of these educational materials is a significant step towards promoting quality education in Enugu State, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the academic performance of students in the state.
