
In a bold move aimed at enforcing discipline and accountability in public service, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has suspended 87 government aides for failing to attend an important official event.

25 Commissioners
14 Senior Special Assistants
24 Special Assistants
22 Permanent Secretaries
According to the statement, all suspended officials are to proceed on a one-month working suspension without salary. During this period, they are also barred from signing any official documents or carrying out duties tied to their offices.
Commissioners have been directed to hand over responsibilities to their respective permanent secretaries.
“The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has directed that the underlisted government functionaries proceed on a one-month working suspension without salary for failure to attend an important government function,” the statement read.
Mr. Uzor added that Governor Nwifuru remains committed to upholding discipline, dedication, and high ethical standards among public officials in the state.
This development marks one of the largest disciplinary actions taken by the current administration and serves as a stern warning to government appointees on the importance of commitment and presence in state matters.
