
Awgu Local Government Area Chairman, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, on Saturday, August 9, 2025, led the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) monthly meeting at the council headquarters multipurpose hall, where party leaders and stakeholders reaffirmed their unflinching loyalty and support for the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

The gathering opened with an address by the PDP LGA Chairman, Hon. Kenechukwu Okolo, who warmly welcomed executives and members. He commended the exceptional leadership of Governor Mbah, the State PDP Chairman, Hon. Chukwunwike, and Hon. Uchenna Okolo for their dedication to party unity and development.

Ward leaders from across the 11 political wards presented reports from their respective areas, reflecting strong grassroots mobilization.

In his remarks, Comrade Anthony Ude, Chairman of the Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC), applauded members for their steadfastness and commitment to the governor’s vision. He announced the completion of the University of Education, Ihe, under Governor Mbah’s administration, and supported the meeting with a ₦50,000 donation.

The PDP Zonal Chairman for Enugu West, Hon. Chief Ernest Nwaeze, representing Governor Mbah and the State Party Chairman, lauded the people of Awgu for their massive turnout. He assured them that the PDP remains strong, loyal members’ positions are protected, and welfare is a priority. Highlighting Governor Mbah’s remarkable achievements, especially in education, he declared that the governor’s re-election should be a “smooth victory.”



Chief Uche Orjiani (Oyi Na Atumba) described Governor Mbah as a “workaholic” and pledged unwavering support, donating ₦50,000 to the party.

Former Awgu LGA Chairman, Hon. Stanley Okeke (Atu Ogbaku), received a warm welcome from party faithful. In his address, he commended Governor Mbah for what he described as “outstanding and transformative leadership that is already leaving a legacy in every part of the state.” He noted that the governor’s projects and policies have touched critical sectors, including education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment, stressing that “a leader who delivers results of this magnitude deserves the total and unshakable support of his people.”
Hon. Okeke went on to pledge his personal commitment to the governor’s vision and the PDP’s mission in Enugu State, calling on all party members in Awgu to “stand firm, work in unity, and defend the mandate of the people.” He concluded his remarks by supporting the party financially with a generous donation of ₦500,000, a gesture that was met with loud applause and chants from the gathering.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Uchenna Okolo delivered a passionate and comprehensive address that resonated deeply with attendees. He began by expressing profound gratitude to all present, particularly the grassroots leaders and stakeholders who have kept the party’s flag flying high in Awgu. He lauded Governor Mbah’s exceptional leadership style, describing it as visionary, pragmatic, and people-oriented, and prayed for his continued success in transforming Enugu State.

He stated unequivocally that Governor Mbah has demonstrated rare courage and determination in delivering projects that directly impact the lives of citizens, citing recent achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, agriculture, tourism and job creation. According to him, such results show a leader who not only understands the needs of the people but is also committed to addressing them decisively.
“I want to tell you today that we are solidly behind our dear Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah. Wherever he goes, we go; wherever he stands, we stand,” Hon. Okolo declared, prompting the hall to erupt in chants echoing his words. He emphasized that loyalty to the governor is loyalty to the progress of Enugu State and urged members to align their actions and words with the governor’s vision.

He reminded attendees that Awgu LGA emerged first in the last election in Enugu West, a feat he attributed to their unity, discipline, and commitment, urging them to sustain the momentum, that complacency could erode the gains already achieved. Hon. Okolo further pledged to continue working tirelessly to ensure that Awgu remains entirely Governor Peter Mbah’s home.
Concluding his speech, he reiterated his personal dedication to Governor Mbah’s agenda, assuring unflinching support to ensure its success. His remarks drew standing ovations, affirming the bond between the leadership and the grassroots in Awgu LGA. Though, Hon. Okolo provided the whole funds for the hosting of the meeting, he equally blessed the youth and women with extra N200,000.





The meeting attracted prominent stakeholders, including the Secretary General, Awgu LGA, Rt. Hon. Nelson Uduji; Speaker, Awgu LGA Legislative Council, Hon. Rose Udeh, all Supervisory Councilors and Senior Personal Assistants, Local Government Appointees, Awgu LGA PDP Working Committee members, PDP Ward Chairmen, Women Leaders, Youth Leaders, and party faithful from across Awgu LGA.
