The suspect, identified as Tochukwu Edeh (27), was searched, and a black bag in his possession was found to contain a locally fabricated pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition.
In another operation on August 10, 2025, at about 5:00 a.m., operatives of the Anti-Cultism Squad, acting on the confessions of two notorious suspects already in custody, arrested three additional male suspects: Odoh Friday (24), Okamkpa Onyeka Chukwu (22), and Uzor Okwudili (23). All three admitted to being members of the Black Axe confraternity. Items recovered from them included a locally made single-barrel pistol, one expended cartridge, three blue candlesticks, and quantities of weeds suspected to be cannabis.
Similarly, on August 9, 2025, at about 12:45 p.m., operatives attached to the Oji-River Police Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), arrested two suspects—Kosi Ani (22) and Ahmed Ibrahim (29)—while they attempted to sell a stolen Topway motorcycle. Their arrest followed prompt police response to credible intelligence. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to having robbed a commercial motorcyclist of the motorcycle at about 9:00 p.m. the previous day.
The Police Command confirmed that discreet investigations into all the cases are ongoing, adding that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Commending the operatives for their efforts, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the safety of residents across Enugu State. He urged members of the public to continue assisting the police with credible information to strengthen public security.
