In a bold push to entrench sustainable grassroots development and improve the welfare of Ndi Awgu, the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has officially flagged off the construction of two solar-powered boreholes in Ogbuanyanwu Nenwenta and Ezineri Mgbidi communities. The projects form part of his administration’s flagship “Awgu Water-for-All Initiative.”

With these fresh interventions, Hon. Okolo’s administration has moved closer to its ambitious target of delivering 25 solar-powered boreholes across the LGA, having already completed 18 projects. This milestone not only reflects his steadfast commitment to ensuring clean, safe, and accessible drinking water but also aligns seamlessly with Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s vision of grassroots-inclusive development for Enugu State.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, the Chairman explained that the water initiative is more than an infrastructural project; it is a deliberate investment in public health, community empowerment, and sustainable development.

“This project goes beyond providing water; it is about restoring hope, improving health, and enhancing the quality of life for our people. Our mission is clear — no ward, no village, and no family in Awgu will be left behind,” Hon. Okolo stated.

The commissioning of these twin borehole projects adds to the growing list of transformative initiatives under Hon. Okolo’s stewardship. Notable among them are the One Ward, One Kilometer Road Project currently ongoing across all eleven wards of Awgu LGA, and the 3.5-kilometer Awgu–Ugwueme Road Project, which was flagged off on August 23, 2025.

Reaffirming his administration’s partnership with Governor Mbah’s transformative governance model, Hon. Okolo pledged to continue delivering people-focused projects that yield direct benefits to communities and strengthen inclusive growth at the grassroots.

Residents of Ogbuanyanwu Nenwenta and Ezineri Mgbidi communities, visibly elated at the flag-off, commended the Chairman for what they described as a lifeline that will significantly enhance hygiene, boost public health, and stimulate socio-economic development in their areas.

With the expansion of the Awgu Water-for-All Initiative, Hon. Uche Okolo continues to consolidate his vision of inclusive growth, sustainable development, and accountable leadership, ensuring that no community in Awgu LGA is left behind.
