The Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Barr. Chris-Roberts Ozongwu, has once again acknowledged the visionary leadership of the Executive Governor, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance has given full backing to the process. He further commended the tireless efforts of the State Budget Committees and technical teams whose work is shaping a people-focused 2026 budget.

The ongoing sessions have witnessed full representation from the MDAs — with Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and technical officers actively participating in the defense of their budget estimates. Each presentation is being displayed on screen, allowing for open interaction, clarity of figures, and robust engagement. This approach not only strengthens transparency but also underscores the administration’s emphasis on data-driven and inclusive decision-making.

MDAs that have already appeared have been tasked with demonstrating how their projects align with the Governor’s transformative agenda of making Enugu a preferred destination for living, investment, and tourism. Those yet to make their presentations are reminded to endeavour to do so early enough to ensure their proposals are captured within the timelines of this vital exercise.

The bilateral sessions will continue until all MDAs have defended their proposals, after which the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning will consolidate the inputs into a comprehensive draft budget for consideration by the State Executive Council before transmission to the House of Assembly. Stakeholders and the general public are eagerly following the process as Enugu sets the stage for yet another people-driven and impact-oriented financial year.
