…As Dr Rita Emeh (PT) led ENSACA Unveils 5 Point Agenda to Tackle HIV/AIDS in Enugu

The Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Agency for the Control of AIDS (ENSACA), Dr. Rita Emeh, has announced a comprehensive five point agenda aimed at accelerating the state’s efforts to end new HIV infections, reduce stigma, and achieve enviable epidemic control by the year 2030.

Speaking with newsmen in Enugu on Thursday, while presenting the proposal, Dr. Emeh stated that her vision is to align ENSACA’s strategies with that of the National HIV and AIDS Strategic Framework (2021–2025).

She stated that the healthcare agenda of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah intends to collaborate with other agencies to have innovative and sustainable solutions on HIV/AIDS disease.
She also stated that the agency’s goal is to ensure that no community or vulnerable group in the state is left behind in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Emeh, who is a seasoned health practitioner and advocate for infection prevention, explained that the new agenda focuses on five key areas that include strengthening stakeholder engagement and multisectoral collaboration; expanding HIV testing and case identification; accelerating linkage to care and treatment; combating stigma; and enhancing data management and operational research.

According to her,
“As part of the plan, ENSACA will initiate quarterly stakeholder forums involving state and local government, health providers, NGOs, and community leaders to review epidemic trends and coordinate joint action.”

“Mobile testing units and expanded community outreach programs will be introduced to increase access to testing, especially in underserved areas.”

She also narrated other plans of the agency in actualising the 5 point agenda which is also in line with the health programme of the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

“We also intend to adopt rapid initiation protocols to ensure immediate treatment upon diagnosis, supported by case managers to monitor patient adherence and treatment outcomes. Mass media campaigns, school outreach programs, and community engagements will be used to combat stigma, while real time data dashboards and partnerships with universities will help track progress and guide decision making.”

Dr. Emeh also expressed gratitude to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for the opportunity to serve and promised to work diligently to achieve the state’s HIV/AIDS goals, while also saying that the agenda represents a new chapter of data driven leadership and community centered action for a healthier Enugu State.
