The announcement, made today on the floor of the House of Representatives, has generated wide interest across political circles in Enugu State and beyond.

Explaining the reasons behind his decision, Hon. Onwuegbu attributed his defection to the lingering internal crisis within the PDP, which he said had persisted for over two years without meaningful resolution, despite several reconciliation efforts.

According to him, the decision was not taken unilaterally but followed extensive consultations with his constituents, who unanimously supported the move to align with the ruling party at the federal level for the greater benefit of the constituency.

“My resolve to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) came after extensive consultations with my constituents, who collectively agreed with me to identify with and support the programmes and policies of the ruling All Progressives Congress,” Hon. Onwuegbu stated.

His defection marks a notable shift in the political landscape of Enugu State and is expected to further influence the balance of political forces within the region ahead of future elections.
