In an official statement, the Ministry expressed deep concern over the growing incidents of such misconduct, particularly around Eke, 9th Mile, ESUT Agbani, Gariki, and Abakpa. These actions, the Ministry noted, include the blocking of routes, harassment of government officials, and obstruction of passengers, describing them as unlawful and detrimental to the State Government’s ongoing transport reform agenda.

The Ministry emphasized that the CNG bus initiative is a key component of Governor Peter Mbah’s administration’s drive to modernize Enugu’s transport system, promote cleaner energy use, and ensure affordable mobility for residents. Any attempt to disrupt this progress, it warned, will not be tolerated.

To this end, all transport unions and operators have been directed to:

1. Desist immediately from all forms of obstruction or interference with CNG bus operations.

2. Operate strictly from government-approved bus stops.

3. Cooperate fully with transport regulatory officers and the CNG management partners.

The statement, signed by Odumegwu Chinwendu, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, further cautioned that defaulters will face appropriate disciplinary and legal sanctions as provided by the laws of Enugu State.

The Ministry urged total compliance from all stakeholders, reaffirming its commitment to building a modern, safe, efficient, and environmentally sustainable transport system that serves the people of Enugu State effectively.
