
The immediate past Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Pedro Nwankwo, has joined the growing list of prominent leaders, stakeholders, and well-meaning Nigerians celebrating the nomination of the former Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, as a non-career ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Nwankwo described Ugwuanyi’s nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a fitting recognition of a man whose leadership style, humility, and integrity have continued to inspire confidence across political, ethnic, and regional lines. He noted that Ugwuanyi’s track record of peacebuilding, inclusive governance, and service to humanity positioned him as one of the most respected public figures in the country.
According to him, during his eight years as governor, Ugwuanyi restored stability in Enugu State, prioritized rural development, and maintained an atmosphere of calm that earned him national and international commendations. Hon. Nwankwo added that such qualities make him eminently qualified to represent Nigeria on the global stage.
“This nomination is not just an honour to Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi but also to the people of Enugu State and the entire Southeast. His humility, maturity, and diplomatic temperament are assets the nation needs as he steps into this new role,” Nwankwo stated.
