During the tour, Dr. Ozor highlighted the substantial progress made under the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, especially within the transportation ecosystem. He announced that the newly constructed state-owned bus terminals are set to become fully operational, adding that the Governor has also approved the establishment of additional terminals to further boost transportation efficiency across Enugu State.

Addressing stakeholders, the Commissioner emphasized the critical need for a collective approach to tackling safety and security challenges that affect the transport system. He called for strict adherence to traffic regulations, the immediate removal of illegal structures and road obstructions, and an end to indiscriminate parking and roadside loading activities. Dr. Ozor also directed that hawkers and traders currently operating along market roads and expressways be moved to designated areas, particularly during the festive season, to maintain free and safe traffic flow.

He further appealed for enhanced synergy among transport unions and agencies, including the NURTW, RETAN, CNG drivers, VIO, ESTMA officials, and the general public. Dr. Ozor assured operators and residents that the Ministry remains open to feedback, complaints, and support requests. He also encouraged widespread participation in the ongoing biometric registration exercise, noting that the system has already proven effective in improving security and curbing irregularities within the transport sector.

The Commissioner stressed that the practice of blocking streets and major roads for burials, weddings, or other ceremonies must come to an end due to the potential security risks and traffic disruptions such actions create. He issued a similar warning to contractors and developers who deposit construction materials on access roads, stating that strict enforcement measures will soon be implemented to curb all activities that obstruct free movement.

At the conclusion of the engagements, Local Government chairmen commended Governor Mbah’s transformative achievements through the Ministry of Transport under Dr. Ozor’s leadership. They pledged their continued support and collaboration to sustain ongoing reforms in the state’s transportation sector.
