
Akpugoeze Ward in Oji-River Local Government Area came alive on Saturday, January 24, 2026, as the Member representing Aninri, Awgu and Oji-River Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, officially flagged off the All Progressives Congress (APC) Membership E-Registration exercise in the ward.

The well-attended event, held at Central School, Akpugoeze, recorded massive turnout of organic community elders, women, youths, party faithfuls,critical stakeholders, and even masquerades,reflecting impressive acceptance of the APC at the grassroots.

The e-registration exercise was led by Hon. Onwuegbu himself, with several other party leaders and stakeholders formally registering during the process.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu described the e-registration as a strategic grassroots mobilisation initiative aimed at strengthening the APC and consolidating the support base for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and other elected party faithfuls. He commended the massive turnout and urged the people of Akpugoeze Ward to fully embrace the APC, encouraging them to sustain the same level of enthusiasm and commitment shown during the event.

According to him, joining the APC offers a unique opportunity for our people to actively participate in Nigeria’s political greatness and benefit from inclusive governance at the center. Speaking on behalf of the ward, he declared their alignment with the APC, noting that the registration exercise symbolised collective submission and commitment to deliver the ward fully come 2027 general election. He concluded his address with a resounding chant: “On your mandate, we shall stand.”

Also speaking at the event, Hon. Boniface Uchendu, former Chairman of Oji-River Local Government Area, Senior Legislative Adviser to Hon. Onwuegbu, and a son of the soil, attributed the growing acceptance of the APC in Enugu State to what he described as the tangible dividends of democracy pouring into the state from the centre. He likened political parties to a moving vehicle, stating that the PDP had effectively collapsed into the APC, which he described as a formidable force. He explained that the e-registration would help the party determine the level of participation for equitable distribution of benefits and dividends, urging Ndi Akpugoeze to fully embrace the APC.

In his remarks, Chief Benson Eze (Onwa), former APC Chairman in Oji-River LGA, said the visit to Akpugoeze was aimed at uniting all political interests under one umbrella. He noted that the PDP had collapsed into the APC in Akpugoeze and cautioned against politics of acrimony, emphasizing the need for unity, peace, and collective progress. He also urged Ndi Akpugoeze to support the APC.


The Executive Chairman of Oji-River Local Government Area, Hon. Greg Chijioke Anyaegbudike, acknowledged the presence of dignitaries and expressed delight over what he described as the organic and overwhelming turnout for the APC in Akpugoeze and across the local government area. He attributed the growing support to the dividends of connecting to the centre and the giant strides of the present administration at the federal, state, zonal, constituency, and grassroots levels. He reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, and other elected APC officials, urging Ndi Akpugoeze to embrace what he described as the “moving train” of the APC.

Other Dignitaries present at the event included the Commissioner for Tourism, Dame Ugochi Madueke; Hon. Flavour Eze, Chairman, APC E-Registration, Enugu State; Hon. Eric Oluedo, Executive Secretary, Enugu State Pension Board; Hon. Amb. Dr. Mrs. Ginika Florence Tor, former Enugu Liaison Officer, Federal Character Commission; Hon. Paul Udebuluzo, Oji-River Local Government APC Chairman; and several other notable party leaders and stakeholders.
