The Honourable Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ben Osy Okoh, has reaffirmed the Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure’s commitment to the continuous training and professional development of its workforce as part of efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and improve service delivery.

Engr. Okoh made this known during a two-day capacity-building workshop organised for staff of the Ministry, where he disclosed that structured plans have been put in place to ensure regular training and professional development of personnel.

Addressing participants at the workshop, the Commissioner stressed that investment in human capital remains a critical requirement for achieving quality output and efficiency in public service delivery.
“The Ministry remains committed to the continuous development of its staff. If we expect quality output, we must invest in capacity-building and professional growth.

Training is essential for optimal performance and improved service delivery,” he said.
He noted that the Civil Service operates within established rules, procedures, and standards of conduct, adding that the Ministry would continue to organise capacity-building programmes whenever the need arises to ensure that staff remain well-informed and properly equipped to function effectively within the Civil Service framework.

The Commissioner also encouraged officers to take deliberate steps towards personal development by pursuing relevant self-improvement opportunities that align with their departmental responsibilities and strengthen their professional competence.

Engr. Okoh assured staff of the Ministry’s support, stating that management would continue to provide the necessary tools, exposure, and capacity-building opportunities required to improve competence and overall performance.

He added that the training programme underscores the Ministry’s commitment to building a professional, ethical, and future-ready public service capable of meeting the demands of modern governance and infrastructure development.
