The congress, which followed earlier exercises at the ward, local government, and state levels, was widely described by party stakeholders as orderly and reflective of members’ collective will. Delegates adopted the outcomes of the preceding congresses and endorsed a consensus arrangement for the zonal exercise, in line with Section 84(2) of Nigeria’s Electoral Act.

Speaking to Newsmen, Onwuegbu commended the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for providing an enabling environment that ensured the smooth conduct of the congress. He also congratulated the newly elected zonal officials, noting that their emergence underscored growing unity and shared purpose within the party in the South-East.

The federal lawmaker further praised governors in the region for their role in facilitating a credible and seamless process. He observed that the calm atmosphere and level of coordination recorded throughout the congresses signaled strengthening cohesion among party stakeholders.

“As we approach the National Convention this weekend, I urge all members and stakeholders to remain steadfast in their support for the growth and stability of our great party,” Onwuegbu said. “We must continue to work collectively to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Reaffirming confidence in the party’s future, Onwuegbu expressed optimism that sustained unity and commitment would position the APC for electoral success in the 2027 general elections.

The South-East zonal congress is part of the APC’s broader internal processes aimed at strengthening party structures ahead of its national convention and future electoral engagements.
