The Honourable Member representing Aninri, Awgu and Oji-River Federal Constituency, Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, on Wednesday made an impromptu courtesy stopover at a community meeting in Amanasato Autonomous Community, Odume, Aninri Local Government Area, while en route to attend a burial ceremony in Obeagu.

The visit, prompted by a call from the community’s leadership, highlighted the lawmaker’s accessibility and commitment to grassroots engagement.
Welcoming the federal lawmaker, the President General of Amanasato Community, Mr. Nwaru Obed, expressed appreciation for his people-oriented representation and continued support for the welfare of the people. He noted that the community holds him in high esteem and assured him of their unwavering support.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Onwuegbu greeted the people with their traditional slogan, “Amanasato, Ofuobi, Ofuobi, Onye Ayala Nwanneya,” and commended the strong sense of unity and cooperation within the community. He encouraged them to sustain the existing harmony, describing it as a vital ingredient for meaningful development.
He also applauded the leadership of Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, particularly for the completion of a Smart School project in the community, urging the people to continue supporting the state government.
“I was on my way to a burial when your President General informed me of your meeting, and I decided to honour the invitation,” Onwuegbu stated. “Having observed some of your pressing needs, I assure you they will be given due consideration. Let us keep the communication line open as we work towards attracting tangible development to this community.”
Responding on behalf of the community, ACP Godwin Mbah described the visit as a great honour, noting that the lawmaker’s presence, despite the short notice, reflected his dedication to the people. He assured that the community would continue to engage through its leadership to communicate its developmental challenges and priorities.
He further emphasized the population strength and unity of Amanasato, assuring the lawmaker of massive support when the time comes.
In a related development, Hon. Favour Sunday Akpa Igwe, a stakeholder in the community, briefly received the lawmaker at his residence as a mark of honour. He commended Hon. Onwuegbu for his goodwill towards the people and the broader Awgu area, urging him to remain steadfast in his principles and approach to politics.
The visit concluded with expressions of appreciation from community members, who lauded the lawmaker’s responsiveness and pledged continued cooperation and support, while he reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation and inclusive development.
