A sweeping wave of political solidarity surged through Enugu West Senatorial District as Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, Member representing Aninri, Awgu, and Oji-River Federal Constituency, joined other leaders of Enugu West Zone in a massive endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah for a second term in office.

The endorsement came at the Enugu West Mega Rally held at the Awgu Local Government Secretariat field, where thousands of party faithfulls, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters gathered in a remarkable display of unity and political resolve ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing the electrified crowd, Onwuegbu, flanked by fellow lawmakers, Hon. Sunday Umeha, Hon. Chidi Obetta, and Hon.Chima Atu, delivered a rousing endorsement speech that resonated across the zone. He paid glowing tribute to the people of Aninri, Awgu, Oji-River, Ezeagu, and Udi, the five local government areas that make up Enugu West, commending their resolve to endorse both Governor and President, unity of purpose and political foresight evidenced by this rally.

He described Governor Mbah as “a worthy son of Enugu West, a dependable ally, a friend and a brother, whose footprints of development are boldly etched across the zone.” Onwuegbu highlighted various political offices entrusted in our sons and daughters, the administration’s strides in critical sectors, including road infrastructure, digital-driven education reforms, healthcare revitalisation, agricultural value-chain expansion, youth empowerment initiatives, and strengthened community-based security systems, noting that the governor’s performance had justified the growing wave of support.

The lawmaker further aligned the zone’s endorsement with the broader national reforms championed by President Tinubu, stressing that continuity at both state and federal levels would consolidate ongoing economic recovery efforts, attract greater investments, and deepen developmental outcomes across the region.

Adding vibrancy to the rally was the Omeiheukwu Support Group, a formidable grassroots mobilisation structure backing the President and Governor Mbah. The group’s presence amplified APC sentiments, energising the crowd and reinforcing the depth of political organisation within the zone. Their coordinated mobilisation underscored an expanding grassroots consensus in favour of continuity of the Present and Governor Mbah.

In a symbolic and decisive gesture, leaders and stakeholders of Enugu West presented a cheque of N100 million to Governor Mbah, pledging more if needed, for the purchase of his nomination form, an act widely interpreted as both endorsement and a tangible investment in sustained leadership.

Speaking on behalf of stakeholders, Osita Ngwu emphasised that the endorsement was anchored on measurable performance rather than political sentiment. He cited visible improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare delivery, and security as key drivers of the zone’s collective decision.

Also lending his voice, elder statesman Ken Nnamani cautioned against what he described as the “illusion of single-term promises,” warning that such narratives were often unrealistic and politically misleading.

In his response, Governor Mbah described the rally as “epic,” expressing profound appreciation for the overwhelming show of support. He commended the people of Enugu West for their strategic alignment and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equity, inclusive growth, and sustained development. The governor also pledged continued synergy with the Tinubu-led federal government to drive transformative policies and economic reforms.

The Enugu West Mega Rally, widely regarded as a defining political moment, has not only consolidated support for the APC in the zone but also signalled a formidable front as the 2027 electoral landscape gradually takes shape.
