Tochukwu Chukwu, the council boss paid glowing tribute to mothers, whom he referred to as “the pillars of the human race and a blessing to the world.” He emphasized that their sacrifices, resilience, and nurturing roles remain fundamental to community development and societal stability.
Hon. Okolo noted that no meaningful progress can be achieved without recognizing and supporting the invaluable contributions of women, particularly mothers, whose influence cuts across families, communities, and governance structures.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to gender inclusion, the chairman assured that policies and programmes aimed at empowering women in Awgu would continue to receive priority attention. He stressed that sustainable grassroots development is closely tied to deliberate investments in women’s growth, participation, and leadership.
The council chairman also commended the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for what he described as visionary leadership and a firm commitment to women’s empowerment. He highlighted the governor’s inclusive governance style, which promotes female representation in decision-making processes, as a model for progressive and sustainable development.
Hon. Okolo pledged that the Awgu Local Government Council would remain aligned with the state government’s vision by implementing impactful initiatives designed to uplift women and strengthen their roles in community advancement.
