Enugu CP Engages NISS Participants on Security Study Tour

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, on Tuesday received participants of the National Institute of Security Studies (NISS) Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 19 during their study tour of Enugu State, where he provided insights into the security landscape and ongoing efforts to maintain peace in the state.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Commissioner highlighted the Command’s strategic deployment of both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches in tackling crime, while acknowledging existing security challenges. He reassured the delegation that the Police, in synergy with other security agencies, remain committed to sustaining the relative peace and safety for which Enugu State is known.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the team lead, Mr. Olalekan Fashanu, said the study tour, themed “Ethnic Militia and Resource Competition in Enugu State: Implications for National Security,” is aimed at providing participants with first-hand knowledge through direct engagement with critical stakeholders.

The participants, drawn from Nigeria and other countries, also held interactive sessions with the Commissioner, posing questions and receiving clarifications relevant to the theme of the tour.

The visit forms part of the institute’s broader efforts to deepen participants’ understanding of evolving security dynamics and strengthen collaborative approaches to national security management.
