The delegation, led by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, brought together traditional rulers, former political office holders, lawmakers, and other prominent stakeholders from the zone.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the traditional ruler of Edem Ani and Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, His Majesty, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, alongside former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, commended the governor for what they described as visible, inclusive, and result-driven governance.

They highlighted the appointment of Professor Simon Ortuanya as the first indigenous Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, describing it as a historic achievement for the zone and a testament to the administration’s commitment to merit and inclusivity.

The stakeholders also praised Governor Mbah for honouring the late Senator Okey Ezea with a state burial despite political differences, describing the gesture as a demonstration of statesmanship and unity beyond party lines.

According to them, their endorsement was based on tangible outcomes rather than political sentiment. “Our solidarity is anchored not on empty rhetoric, but on visible, measurable achievements that cannot be denied,” they said.

They further commended major interventions across education, healthcare, and infrastructure, including the upgrade of the State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS) with a teaching hospital, as well as the appointment of 70 professors to strengthen academic capacity.

The delegation also pointed to the construction of 102 Smart Green Schools and 102 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres in Enugu North Senatorial Zone, describing the projects as unprecedented in scale and impact.

Other cited achievements include the development of modern transport infrastructure such as interchange terminals in Nsukka, and the deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to improve public transportation.

They also referenced key road projects such as the dualisation of the Opi–Ugwuogo Nike–Abakpa Road and the Owo–Ubahu–Amankanu–Umualor–Ikem–Obollo Afor corridor, which they said are opening up economic opportunities and improving connectivity across communities.

Beyond infrastructure, they commended the administration for facilitating federal appointments for indigenes of Nsukka zone and for revitalising previously moribund state-owned assets, including Nigergas, United Palm Products Limited (UPPL), Sunrise Flour Mills, and Hotel Presidential, Enugu.

The stakeholders further acknowledged the near completion of the Ama–Akama Oghe–Olo–Iwollo–Umulokpa road, describing it as a strategic linki between Uzo-Uwani and other parts of the state.

They also pointed to flagship projects such as the International Conference Centre (ICC), the 5-star ICC Hotel, the 300-bed Enugu International Hospital, and the New Enugu Smart City, noting that over 3,000 projects have either been completed or are ongoing across the state.

The stakeholders unanimously declared support for Governor Mbah’s re-election, insisting that no previous administration had matched the scale and pace of development recorded under his leadership.

“In just two years, governance in Enugu has moved from promises to measurable results, with Nsukka Zone emerging as one of the greatest beneficiaries,” they stated.

In his response, Governor Mbah thanked the delegation for the visit and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equity, fairness, and inclusive governance.

He explained that the distribution of projects across zones was guided by objective parameters, noting that Enugu North has 102 wards, compared to 81 in Enugu West and 77 in Enugu East.

“We do what difficulty demands. When we presented ourselves to serve you, we made commitments, and we are determined to keep them,” the governor said.

Mbah reiterated his administration’s goal of eliminating unpaved roads across the state, describing it as unacceptable in a modern city. He disclosed that while over 350 roads had been constructed within Enugu metropolis, more than 1,000 roads were still pending and would be progressively addressed.

“Next to Enugu city is Nsukka. We will conduct a full enumeration of roads in Nsukka and ensure that every one of them is paved. That is the standard we are committed to,” he said.

He also noted that ongoing urban renewal projects, though involving temporary displacement in some areas, are being accompanied by the construction of modern markets to accommodate affected traders.

A major highlight of the visit was the symbolic presentation of gifts to the governor by Igwe Asadu, who also announced that the zone would purchase the governor’s nomination form ahead of the Enugu North Mega Rally scheduled for May 2, 2026.

The delegation included former Deputy Governor Ezenwata Okechukwu Itanyi; former Senator Chukwuka Utazi; serving and former members of the House of Representatives; Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ezenta Ezeani; members of the State Executive Council; local government chairmen; traditional rulers; and other senior political stakeholders from the zone.
