This move follows the recent arrest of two suspects accused of falsely presenting themselves as officials of the Ministry of Transport. According to the ministry, their apprehension was the outcome of a comprehensive investigation spearheaded by the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Obi Ozor.

In response to the development, the Commissioner called on members of the public to remain alert and proactive, urging them to report any suspicious or unauthorized activities linked to transport enforcement operations.

The ministry further cautioned residents against making cash payments or engaging in unofficial transactions with individuals claiming to represent the government. It emphasized that all payments for fines and related charges must be conducted strictly through approved Integrated Government Revenue (IGR) platforms and designated government accounts.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the ministry stated that all duly authorized personnel are professionally trained and operate in line with established procedures and regulations. As part of ongoing reforms, all ministry officials on duty are mandated to wear visible identification name tags at all times.

The public is strongly encouraged to report any incidents of impersonation, extortion, or illegal enforcement to the Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Enugu State, for prompt action.

The statement was issued by Odumegwu Chinwendu, Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, Enugu State Ministry of Transport.
