The endorsement, according to the stakeholders, followed extensive consultations across communities and political wards within the council area, as well as the growing confidence reposed in the chairman by residents and the state government.

In a joint statement made available to journalists in Enugu, the groups described Hon. Ani as “the most credible, competent, and development-driven choice” to sustain the pace of governance and grassroots development in the local government.
The stakeholders stressed that the endorsement was neither imposed nor engineered through political pressure, but emerged organically from what they described as widespread public approval of the chairman’s leadership style and administrative record.

According to the statement, the people of Enugu South believe continuity under the current administration remains necessary to consolidate ongoing developmental projects and strengthen institutional coordination between the local government and the state government.
“Our decision to unanimously endorse Hon. Caleb Onyema Ani for a second term was deliberate, strategic, and people-oriented. This endorsement is rooted in visible performance, accessible leadership, political maturity, and his unwavering commitment to grassroots development,” the statement read.
The stakeholders also commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for what they described as his commitment to competence-driven governance, noting that the governor’s support for Hon. Ani reflects confidence in his administrative capacity and delivery record.
According to them, Governor Mbah’s governance philosophy is centred on measurable results, innovation, discipline, and effective service delivery, values they said are evident in the chairman’s leadership.
“Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is not known to encourage mediocrity. His support for Hon. Caleb Ani is a direct consequence of performance, loyalty to governance ideals, administrative stability, and visible developmental outcomes across Enugu South,” the statement added.
The groups further praised the chairman for reconnecting governance with the grassroots through what they described as open-door leadership, rapid response to community concerns, environmental sanitation reforms, youth mobilisation initiatives, and support programmes for vulnerable residents.
Speaking on the endorsement, a prominent stakeholder from Amechi community, Chief Emma Ugwu (Enyidiuru), described Hon. Ani as “a bridge between government and the people.”
“Before now, many residents saw local government as distant and inaccessible. Hon. Caleb Ani changed that perception completely. He brought governance closer to the people, listened to communities, and responded to their concerns with urgency and responsibility,” he said.
The stakeholders equally applauded the chairman for sustaining political stability and peace within the council area despite increasing political activities and competing interests ahead of future elections.
Responding to criticisms from opposition camps, the groups insisted that leadership legitimacy must be earned through service, public trust, and measurable achievements rather than propaganda or political intimidation.
“Leadership is not sustained through noise-making, blackmail, or political entitlement. Leadership is earned through sacrifice, service, accessibility, and the confidence of the people. Hon. Caleb Ani has earned that confidence,” the statement noted.
The endorsement groups warned against attempts to distort political realities within Enugu South, maintaining that residents would resist any political agenda capable of disrupting ongoing developmental progress across the local government.
A women leader from Uwani Ward, Mrs. Ngozi Ugwu, stated that residents were more concerned about continuity, stability, and practical governance than divisive politics.
“The people have seen commitment, visibility, and leadership. They want continuity because they believe Hon. Caleb Ani understands the needs of Enugu South and has the energy and capacity to continue delivering,” she said.
The stakeholders reaffirmed their total support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and pledged to mobilise massive grassroots support for his administration and future political engagements.
They maintained that the endorsement of Hon. Caleb Onyema Ani represents the collective voice of the people and a strategic decision aimed at preserving stability, accelerating development, and strengthening grassroots governance across .
