Reacting to the circulating video, the President-General of Awgu Town, Mr. Ezeji Thomas, described the report as the handiwork of mischief-makers and disgruntled elements bent on spreading fear and misinformation among the public.

Thomas, who spoke from his Onoli Community country home in Awgu, said residents were going about their normal daily activities without any form of molestation or security threat, contrary to the claims contained in the viral video.

According to him, Awgu remains peaceful and its law-abiding citizens are engaged in their legitimate businesses and other socio-economic activities without disruption.

He challenged the purveyors of the alleged propaganda to identify the exact location where the purported attack occurred and provide evidence of any victims, maintaining that no such incident took place in the area.

“The people of Awgu are busy carrying out their usual daily activities. There is no attack anywhere in Awgu Junction or any part of Awgu Town. Those behind the false report should identify the location of the alleged violence and the victims involved,” he said.

The community leader further cautioned against attempts to create panic through the circulation of unverified and recycled videos, warning that such actions could undermine public confidence and the prevailing peace in the area.

Thomas also commended the administration of Governor Peter Mbah for its efforts in tackling insecurity and restoring normalcy across the state, particularly the successful dismantling of the sit-at-home disruptions that had previously affected economic and social activities.

He stressed that residents of Awgu would not allow anyone to politicise security issues or distort the reality on the ground for selfish interests, reaffirming the community’s commitment to sustaining peace and supporting ongoing efforts to promote security and development in Enugu State.

The President-General therefore urged members of the public to disregard the viral video and rely on verified information from credible sources regarding security developments in the area.
