
The Member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, FNSE, has reaffirmed the indispensable role of the Church in promoting moral values, ethical leadership, and national development.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The federal lawmaker made the assertion on Friday while attending the 19th Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Enugu, held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Ogbete, Enugu. He was represented at the event by his aide, Chief (Hon.) Chiedozie Nchekwube.
The Synod, presided over by the Bishop of Enugu Diocese and President of the Synod, The Rt. Rev. Prof. Samuel Obiajulu Ike, was held under the theme, “Revival Labours: A Prepared Heart to Study, Do and Teach the Word.”
In his Presidential Address, Bishop Ike emphasized the need for genuine spiritual revival rooted in the diligent study, faithful application, and effective teaching of God’s Word. He also reflected on the challenges confronting Nigeria, urging leaders and citizens alike to embrace integrity, justice, accountability, and selfless service as essential pillars for national transformation.
Speaking on behalf of Hon. Onwuegbu, Chief Nchekwube described the Bishop’s address as timely, profound, and inspiring, noting that it offered practical solutions to both the spiritual and socio-economic issues facing the country.
He conveyed the lawmaker’s appreciation to the Anglican Church for its unwavering commitment to evangelism, moral instruction, and nation-building, stressing that faith-based institutions remain strategic partners in fostering peace, unity, responsible leadership, and sustainable development.
Hon. Onwuegbu further reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote good governance, community development, and the welfare of the people, while acknowledging the Church’s enduring contributions to building a more just, peaceful, and prosperous society.
The Synod attracted a cross-section of eminent personalities from the religious, political, and traditional institutions. Among them was the Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Dr. Peter Mbah, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, alongside senior clergy, government officials, traditional rulers, and other distinguished guests.
