Ije Awele Movement Backs Mike Ogbuekwe, Endorses Gov. Peter Mbah for Second Term

The Ije Awele Movement has reaffirmed its unwavering support for its Convener, Hon. Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe, the APC Chairmanship candidate for Nkanu East Local Government Area, while declaring its total commitment to the re-election of Governor Peter Mbah in 2026.

The resolution was reached during a strategic meeting of the movement, where members reviewed the group’s political direction and governance agenda ahead of the forthcoming local government elections and the 2026 governorship poll.

Speaking at the meeting, the Director-General of the movement, Hon. Kingsley Ezinwa, said members remained firmly united behind Ogbuekwe’s candidacy and would stand with him before, during, and after the elections.

According to Ezinwa, the Ije Awele Movement is built on the principles of accountability, selfless service, grassroots mobilization, and good governance, stressing that members remain committed to advancing those ideals across Nkanu East and Enugu State.

He also passed a vote of confidence in Governor Peter Mbah’s administration, describing the governor’s transformation agenda as evident in the massive investments in infrastructure, quality education, healthcare, security, and economic development.

Ezinwa said the visible transformation across Enugu State is a testament to visionary and purposeful leadership, adding that the movement had resolved to mobilize Ndi Enugu to support the re-election of Governor Peter Mbah in 2026 in order to sustain and consolidate the remarkable gains recorded by his administration.

Responding, the Convener of the movement, Hon. Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe, expressed appreciation to members for their confidence and steadfast support, describing their endorsement as both an honour and a call to greater service.

He assured members that the movement would remain focused on grassroots empowerment, inclusive leadership, and people-oriented programmes, while continuing to support policies that promote sustainable development in Enugu State.

Ogbuekwe urged members to remain united, peaceful, and committed to mobilizing support across communities, expressing confidence that collective effort and dedication would translate into electoral success and ensure the continuity of Governor Peter Mbah’s transformational agenda.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution reaffirming total support for Hon. Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe’s chairmanship ambition and endorsing Governor Peter Mbah for a second term in office in 2026.
