The Ije Awele Movement has commended the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for flagging off the 2026 distribution of fertilizers and other agricultural inputs to over 63,000 registered smallholder farmers across the 260 political wards of the state.

The Movement described the initiative as a bold demonstration of visionary leadership and strategic governance, noting that the Governor’s sustained investment in agriculture is steadily transforming the sector from subsistence farming into a commercially driven enterprise capable of enhancing food security, creating jobs, and accelerating economic growth.

Speaking on the development, the Director-General of the Ije Awele Movement, Hon. Kingsley Ezinwa, said Governor Mbah had once again demonstrated that effective governance is about implementing policies that directly impact the lives of the people.

According to Ezinwa, the distribution of over 63,000 bags of fertilizers, improved seeds, cassava stems, agrochemicals, and other critical farm inputs is a clear indication of the Governor’s unwavering commitment to empowering farmers and achieving food sufficiency in Enugu State.

“Governor Peter Mbah has continued to distinguish himself through purposeful leadership. This intervention will not only reduce the cost of farming but also increase agricultural productivity, improve the incomes of our farmers, and guarantee a bumper harvest across the state. It is another strategic step towards building a resilient agricultural economy and achieving the Governor’s vision of a $30 billion economy,” Ezinwa stated.

He further applauded the administration’s transparent and technology-driven distribution process, which ensures that the inputs reach genuine registered farmers directly, eliminating diversion and the activities of middlemen.

The Director-General urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the farm inputs and comply with Governor Mbah’s directive against selling them, stressing that the intervention is designed to improve food production, lower food prices, and strengthen the state’s economy.

The statement, signed by the Media Director of the Movement, Hon. Okpara Augustinepaul Obinna, reaffirmed the group’s confidence in Governor Mbah’s transformational leadership and called on Ndi Enugu to continue supporting the administration’s people-oriented policies.

The Movement expressed optimism that the Governor’s sustained investments in agriculture, mechanization, agro-processing, irrigation, and rural infrastructure would further position Enugu State as a leading agricultural and industrial hub in Nigeria.

Indeed, Enugu is Working. The Work Continues. Tomorrow Is Here.
