
The family of the Enugu State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Malachy Agbo, has announced the burial arrangements for their matriarch, Mrs. Loretto Nwakaego Agbo (née Ortuanya), who died after a brief illness.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!In a statement made available to journalists, Dr. Agbo disclosed that his mother passed away at the Niger Foundation Hospital, Enugu, and will be laid to rest on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
According to the statement, the funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ohodo, in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State. A wake Mass is also scheduled to hold at the family’s residence by 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, ahead of the burial.
The commissioner described the late Mrs. Agbo as a devout Catholic, compassionate mother, and a pillar of strength whose life was marked by humility, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the service of God and humanity.
He noted that throughout her lifetime, she remained deeply committed to the welfare of others, touching countless lives through her philanthropic activities and community-focused initiatives, particularly in Ohodo Community and her native Amufi Village, where she was widely respected for her selfless service and exemplary character.
Since the announcement of her passing, tributes have continued to pour in from family members, friends, associates, and community leaders, who have remembered her as a woman of deep faith, peaceful disposition, and uncommon kindness. Many described her death as a significant loss, not only to the Agbo family but also to the numerous people whose lives she impacted through her generosity, guidance, and motherly counsel.
Dr. Agbo expressed appreciation to all those who have stood by the family with prayers, condolences, and other acts of support during the period of mourning. He also prayed for the peaceful repose of his mother’s soul.
